Since I can remember I’ve always been a fan of flapjacks. I use to get up early in the mornings and make my own flapjacks as a weekend treat. I had my “flappies” with syrup and butter back then. Nowadays I like to play around with combinations on my flapjacks which led to this invention; matured cheddar, bacon & honey flapjacks.
- 1 Cup of flower
- 1 Cup of milk
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 1 Tablespoon oil
- 1 Egg
- Stir all the ingredients together and let it set for 15 minutes in the fridge.
- Heat a little bit of butter or oil (whichever you prefer) in a pan.
- When the pan is hot you can start to pour in the mix.
- Add your toppings
It’s really as easy as that.
Even though I enjoy making the flapjacks, my favourite part is trying out new and interesting toppings. I love mixing sweet and salty ingredients as toppings. Putting bacon and honey on flapjacks is an old favourite, but adding matured cheddar took it to a whole new level.
The rich, strong taste of the cheese blending with the saltiness of the bacon and the sweet taste of the honey, left me with the most satisfying taste combination for flapjacks thus far.
